SATELLITE 2019 Adds Speakers from NASA, Mastercard, USA Networks, and World View Enterprises to Conference Program!

SATELLITE 2019 welcomes distinguished additions to the 2019 conference program.

Rockville, MD. – Thursday, January 31, 2019 – SATELLITE 2019 is delighted to announce the latest round of new speakers for the 38th Annual SATELLITE Conference & Exhibition, which will be held at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington D.C., on May 6-9, 2019. SATELLITE unites aerospace thought leaders, entrepreneurs, executives, engineers, end-users and enthusiasts together in one place for the largest and most important global connectivity technology event of the year.

SATELLITE 2019 welcomes the following featured speakers:

Kay Koplovitz
Founder, USA Networks; Co-Founder and Chair, Springboard Enterprises; 

Kay Koplovitz is founder and former Chairman & CEO of USA Networks, the SyFy Channel (formerly Sci-Fi Channel) and USA Networks International, today a multi-billion-dollar cable television network. Since 2000, Kay has served as Chairman of Springboard Enterprises, where under her leadership, the non-profit venture-catalyst accelerator has been bringing women founders leading transformational businesses to full parity in raising capital. Koplovitz will join SATELLITE 2019’s “Our Collective Role in Empowering Women and Cultivating Diversity in Aerospace” general session, along with women from Ball Aerospace, Space Foundation, National Science Foundation, and Lquinox Consulting.

Jon Brickey
Senior Vice President, Cybersecurity Evangelist, Mastercard Operations & Technology 

Brickey leads the development of cybersecurity strategy, identification of emerging capabilities, and fostering of partnerships. Jon supports Corporate Security’s mission of delivering safety and security at the speed of business. Before joining Mastercard, Dr. Brickey served in the Army on active duty for over 26 years, holding a variety of leadership and technical roles in information systems management and cyberspace operations. Brickley will speak at the closing SATELLITE 2019 session, “From the Outside Looking In: Industry 4.0 in Space”, joining experts from Deloitte and IBM Watson.

Jim Miller
Deputy Director, Policy and Strategic Communications, Space Communications and Navigation Program, NASA Headquarters 

Miller is responsible for advising senior NASA management on domestic U.S. and international PNT/GNSS policy and technology issues. Jim is NASA’s representative to the State Department GPS International Working Group (GIWG), formal Liaison between the United Nation’s (UN) International Committee on GNSS (ICG) and international space agency Interagency Operations Advisory Group (IOAG) and works as the Executive Director of the National Space-based PNT Advisory Board. Miller will share his expertise in his session, “NASA’s Leadership in Positioning, Navigation, and Timing” and provide further insight into NASA’s national policy positions for the future.

Dr. Charles Norton
Small Spacecraft Missions, Science Mission Directorate, NASA 

Dr. Norton is currently responsible for advising NASA on cross-agency strategic directions for innovative small satellite science, exploration, and technology missions from ESPA-Class spacecraft down to CubeSats with NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory. Dr. Norton joins speakers from Virgin Orbit and the International Space Station National Laboratory on the session “Big Science with Small Satellites” where they will address miniaturized technology’s impact on meaningful science.

Jane Poynter
CEO and Co-Founder, World View Enterprises 

Jane Poynter is one of the world’s first female spaceflight entrepreneurs. Jane is the co-founder and CEO of World View, an Arizona-based spaceflight company that operates in two primary business segments: Stratollite un-crewed flight systems and Voyager human spaceflight systems. Poynter brings her expert opinion to “Making Earth Observation Data More Accessible and Commercially Actionable,” a panel comprised of industry leaders from DN Capital, E-Geos, Orbital Micro Systems, and Analytical Space.

“This year’s lineup of speakers gets even stronger with these additions,” said Jeffrey Hill, Chairman of SATELLITE 2019. “Conference attendees should expect in-depth insight into the future of global connectivity from thought leaders with different perspectives and diverse backgrounds.”

Attendees will dive into the technology and applications driving connectivity innovation and walk away with the tools they need to turn insight into profit for their business. Curated in collaboration with a variety of content partners, the conference program ventures outside of traditional satellite industry discussions and brings fresh faces to the stage.
